"President Obama, who supported the handgun ban in Washington, D.C., before it was tossed by the Supreme Court, since his election has watched various proposals to ban "assault" weapons, require handgun owners to submit to mental health evaluations and sparked a rush on ammunition purchases that caused some retailers to name him their salesman of the year. Now he apparently is going after citizens who reload their ammunition.

It was during an official visit earlier this month to Mexico that he affirmed his support for a proposed international treaty that addresses "firearms trafficking."

According to a blogger who follows the issue, the treaty was adopted by President Clinton years ago but never ratified by the U.S. Senate, a goal Obama now has adopted.

While I can't predict the degree to which he (and many others like him) will be successful, I've said over and over and over and over that these guys probably can't win an all out attack on actual personal ownership of arms. But what they WILL do, and it's happening now and will escalate soon, is make it difficult to actually use those arms.

They will attack the carrying of them, transporting them (personal and shipping), firing them, showing them, displaying them......and they will make the components necessary to use them either illegal to own or purchase, or at least almost impossible to get.

This is why you can't find a .380 for sale new anywhere in America right now, nor the ammo. This is why ammo prices are through the roof. The greatest arms salesman in the history of this country was elected president.

If he hadn't have had to stop and deal with the 'economic crisis', this would have been his first agenda item, I believe. (By the way, did you know that ALL Soc Security recipients get $250 as part of the bailout of banks? Isn't that a truly related item?? I mean, I can really see how a bank that is about to default would be helped tremendously by all old people getting a few hundred bucks. Can't you?) I would imagine universal national health care is 2nd.

The chasm continues to widen.
