Hello! I am new to your forum and to muzzleloading but need some experienced advice.
I haven't put my deposit down but am pretty decided on a TC Triumph bone collector, ordered a scope and mounts but am questioning my decision. The mounts are leupold dual dovetail one piece base and rings. I have read so many opinions on mounts and rings. I understand nothing in life is definitive, but if you were mounting a leupold ultimate slam 3-9 and knew it was paired for life what would you use?

Warne one piece steel base with Warne medium QD rings. Not the cheapest but very solid and have worked flawlessly for me.

Big fan of the Warne bases and rings too. Have them on everything including my boys Triumph. Jr

I have used and recommended warne rings and bases for years.... However I noticed that the last pair of rings I used....had what seemed to be a little Astra powder doating on them...and they didn't want to tighten down like in the past. Kind of concerned me I workse with them and finally got things together tightly. But while speaking with a friend he described the same experience. Not a problem if you watch for it. My next couple builds are slated for a Murphy base and leupold qrw rings Drop

Do you find the QRW release lever to be sharp? I was going for the leupold dovetails because they seem smooth and minimal. Also do you have any experience with the ultimate slam scope? I called leupold and spoke with a technician who said they are equivalent to vx2 glass. i got the illuminated version but wonder if i made a mistake and should have ordered the vxr for parallax and the few extra features.
