I am looking for a new 20ga single shot slug gun. I am wondering what you all think are good single shots and how accurate they can be. Thanks

I'm not so sure how many single shots there are on the market these days. The only ones I know of are the New England Firearms Ultra Slug Hunter and the Rossi, oh and then there is the T/C Encore platform that can be out fitted with a slug barrel. My personal expirience tells me that the NEF is the best option out there and it is very affordable.

The H&R SB1-920 is the one you want. You will not find a more accurate out of the box 20 ga slugster for the money! Very accurate with Light-Field 2-3/4 in slugs! I have owned 2. Both were very accurate and competed sid beside my custom Tar-Hunt that cost a lot more! Beware that there are 2 versions out there. A very thin walled and a heavy walled version. Go with the heavier of the 2 for recoil reduction and accuracy. Here is a link...do some online shopping as you might find it a little cheaper. www.cheaperthandirt.com/product/2-HRSB1920

Thanks Tar. Is that the same gun that Q used that you posted his deer with? I think I might go try to find one this week.

Yes that is the one. I have owned several H&Rs over the years.A couple things to look out for when purchasing one...make sure that the forearm lines up correctly. I have seen a couple where the forearm was not flush to the barell. This is a result of the mounting hole for the forearm screw being slightly drilled off center. Also make sure that the action stays locked up as I have seen the lock up mechanism not working properly on a brand new out of the box gun. These 2 things are not common but something to watch out for.

The Savage 20 gauge bolts are very impressive, reasonably priced and extremely accurate.
