Picked up a little used Cabelas 30-30 scope. Any info on maker and durability? Projected use on my current rehab project 50 cal White Bison. Or use on one of several 22WMR needing glass. Insight welcome. Thanks, 10

If it is the scope I'm thinking of it's their lever action scope. 3-9X40, made in China or the Phillipines (Cabelas moves the source around), newer ones have a BDC reticle for the 30-30, a real good thing is some of the earlier ones had like a 5" eye relief.

Rossman, Posted same question on some other forums. No responses only yours. Thank you. Received scope and it came to me with a base and rings, box and paper too. ++ Looks good, clear, crosshairs and 2 marks for BDC. And yes it has that nice 5" eye relief. I'm figuring if built for a 30-30 it should handle my White Bison 50 or Rem/Rem 45 subshooter I did this year. Again thanks, 10 ga

I'm guessing this scope is similar to the cabelas shotgun scope I just picked up. I compared all sorts of low power and shotgun specific scopes at cabelas before I determined, for the money, the cabelas slugger scope was my choice. A clear winner even compared to scopes that cost twice as much or more. Unbelievable how clear this scope is. Time will tell if it's even worth the $99 it cost once I shoot with it on my slug gun and get it in the field and test it in low light situations, but to just pick them up and compare them in the store, to me this scope was an easy winner. Hopefully it proves that way in the field and on the gun. If not, I'm out $100 and I go get the Nikon.

Got one for the Marlon cow boy in 45/70. The first one chipped a lens in side or something, peace of glass drifting around. Cabalas replaced it for free/no shipping. The replacement one has worked perfectly. There made for the evolution ammo from Hornidy, I reload so the 200/300 yard hash marks are more like 250 and 350. The 5" eye relief is a must with mine, so that's a good thing. When you go sight it in, do it with the power your going to shoot with. My POI changes a lot as I go up in magnification. SO after your happy with the sight in bump it up to 9 and see where you hit... They seam to be very tuff the recoil on my gun is incredible and it seams to handle it fine. I did have to put some rice paper around the scope in the rings to keep it from moving.

Got the timney trigger kit for the 870 super slug, just gotta get it in. Then I can take it out and see if this cabelas scope is the real deal or a flop.

IIRC the Cabelas Lever Action scopes are close to the Nikon Omega line.
Being a Second Focal Plane (SFP) scope the subtension or the distance between BDC marks will change as you change magnification. Your directions should tell you at what magnification the hash marks are set for. Much like mil-dot SFP scopes, the mil-dots only work at a certain magnification. Unless you want to believe the salesmen at my local Gander Mountain, who tell everyone SFP BDC scopes work any magnification.
