Just curious, can one buy a screw on (the objective, I assume) lense that will effectively double the power range of a scope, say taking it from a 3x9 to 6x18?

Try www.bulzeyepro.com , they are the only ones I know of offhand. There was another guy catering to the benchrest crowd but I do not know if he is still around. Bushnell, Vortex and Swarovski was offering doublers for there binos. Basicly it turns one side of your binos into like a spoting scope.

Thanks. I did a quick google last night and everything came up for night vision stuff. That link didn't work for some reason but found them here- www.bulzeyepro.com/

Really interesting looking product. They claim it will make the target appear 70-100% closer. So I would be able to put it on my WCE and have a 4/5x17/20 scope, for less than $100. Would be great at the range and even possibly keep me from having to get a new scope if I stretch the shots out next season.
Really interesting. Anyone see a downside?

You would magnify any flaws that are in the glass. The WCE is pretty good glass and should do OK, far better then a $49.95 NcStar, Tasco or Sightmark.

Premier reticles used to boost Leupold scopes. I have a PR boosted Vari-X III that started life as a 6-20x50 LR. After they added their kit, its a 14-35x50. It's my long range load development scope.

Looking into this more led me to another thought. Does adjusting the ocular focus of a scope affect the perceived magnification?
I swear a few years ago my scope seemed to have more magnification. Over time my reading vision has deteriorated to where I can't read without glasses unless the print is huge, and I've adjust the scope for a clear sight picture, but it seems like magnification is less.
Thoughts?

Sometimes when it's raining, I take my glasses off to do the chores. Without the spectacles, all the animals look smaller. Coincidence?

Are you far or near sighted?

Prior to wearing glasses, I was far sighted. Now, without glasses, everything is a blurr near or far.

Thanks. I've always been far sighted but lost reading vision a few years ago. It's gotten worse in the past year, and I've noticed my distance vision isn't what it used to be. Rossman speculated that there could be up to a 10% reduction in magnification depending on how the ocular focus is set, but I hypothesize that when you combine that with how your eyes perceive objects based on your cornea, it emphasizes the affect. I think I'll buy one of these, if nothing else just to satisfy my curiosity

Finally got around to doing the test they recommend to select the proper booster. Turns out I need the 3.5x, which puts me firmly in their wheelhouse for people that see the greatest improvement with their product. Order placed. Review to follow soon

I want to say it was $96 and $102 shipped. Don't recall exactly but that's pretty close. The lower magnification was about $10 cheaper.

Life has finally settled down enough that I was able to install the bulzeyepro on my WCE and try it out. Based on the test I ordered the 3.5x model. However, with the ocular adjustment all the way in the crosshairs are still a bit blurry, so they suggested the 3x model. The good news? My eyes aren't as bad as they could be and I can return it for a full exchange. The bad news, more downtime till I can finally give it a proper review. I did hold it out in front of my eye until things can into focus. It easily is doubling the size of the image, ie writing on a piece of paper. More to follow. Eventually

Watch your eye relief, I think the focus distance behind the lens will be cut with magnification.

I have a doubler on a pentex camera & the only downside is it cuts out some of the lite ,not sure if it would be the same on a scope or not,I will be looking forward to the review

Replacement showed up yesterday. 3x. Installed it, sighted out about 50 yds, still fuzzy. I was really confused until I remembered they say don't look through glass to test it, and I was. Went outside, had to screw the ocular adjustment fully down but the image is crisp and clear, and as near I an tell, about 50% bigger. Hope to make it out to shoot soon, but so far so good.
Didn't notice any change in eye relief. Actually felt like a bit more, but that's probably from having the ocular adjustment screwed fully in. I wonder if that's how the measure it? It was fully out before to get a clear sight picture.
