Well fellas, its about time to head to the range. I recently purchase 1 lb of 5744 and 1 lb of 4759 at a local gun store. I have a standard ML II 50 cal. blue/synthetic and was hoping some of you guys had some load recipes to get me pointed in the right direction. The bore on this rifle is tight. I plan on starting with 250gr. XTP's and the short MMP sabot. Any info would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

With the 250gr XTP's you will proably find that that the 4759, charges in the 43gr range (+/- 1gr, in .5gr increments) will most likely get you in the 1" neighborhood. With 5744, charges in the 44-45gr range should get you in the 1.5-2" neighborhood. You will get about 100+ FPS more velocity with the 4759, over 5744.
Let the barrel cool at least 5 minutes between shots, closer to 10 would be better, so you may want to take a 22LR or something to while letting the barrel cool. It's kind of windy today here in NC, but cloudy, so it won't take long for the barrel to cool, but the wind is not going to help any for accurate shooting. After shooting, don't let your 10ML-II sit on the bench, in the sunlight,as it will get hot just from the sun (but it's cloudy today so you don't have to worry about that), instead set off in the shade while it's cooling. ALso don't let you powder, bullets, and sabots lay around in the sunlight either, for the same reason. Pay close attention to your loads and loading procedure, so you do not mistakenly load a double load. Also you may want to index (aligning and loading the sabot exactly the same and at the same point every time) your sabots to the bore, while starting/loading them in the muzzle.

Let me add that my goal is a 3" or less group @ 200yds. I plan on trying SST, shockwaves, and the 300 gr. XTP if the 250's don't do well. If all goes well I may try 250 yds. I have a Burris 3x9x50mm with the ballistic plex and with my 4227 load, my second line down was close to dead-on @ 200yds and I still have another line and the post. Just curious to see how far Old Betsy can shoot. Once again, Thanks All
