A friend brought it to my attention a few months ago. When was the last time you hunted with your Knight Disc Elite. I actually couldn’t remember. So I started thinking about this. You can look back at post’s of mine on MM about how much I praised the T/C triumph since BH209 came out. The reason was how accurate and compatible it was with that powder. Don’t get me wrong the Triumph is still a great Muzzleloader. Actually by far the best one T/C makes. I'm just wondering why i put the Knights away for awhile.
This past weekend I shot three animals with a Knight Disc Elite. And now I’m thinking why have I not used these Muzzleloaders? Knights are extremely well built and very accurate. I think they are better built then most Muzzleloaders. The thing I guess I cant stand is all the blow back. That’s probably why I have not used them in the past couple years. I really think Knights are quality well built Muzzleloaders. I think i need to read more about the Ultimate slam and really consider getting one. Or maybe even use the Knight Vision more this hunting season.
How do you you guy's like your Knight Muzzleloaders???

Went out and shot my new Bighorn this afternoon. It's the 4th Knight that I have owned and I like it. The blowback is a problem, but the white teflon tape around breech plug threads helps alot. I'm using the no11 nipple on it right now w/ triple seven fffg and 250 grain xtp's. My shooting today wasn't spectacular as I've yet to find the right combo.....and that's exactly why I bought this gun....to figure it out. I've enjoyed all the Knight rifles that I have owned.

Grouse, I've owned and passed on a number of knights over the years. 3 years ago I came across a great by on a Savage ML II and the smoke poles sort of got left behind. With the coming of BH 209 I decided I needed to get a disc just to see what all the hoop la was about and a local shop had a 45 for 100 bucks, couldn't pass it up. The 45 proved to be a bit more of a challenge than I wanted to mess with for my "testing" so I ordered and received a 50 SS from knight. I should of just bought a new extreeme but a conversion kit was next on the list, then the NFPJ conversion. I think if I hunt with it I will use the FPJ but the gun shoots good (REALLY LIKES 250 gold dots sitting on 100 gr BH) and using BH is a snap to clean. I enjoy shooting these (oh I got blue one on line for 200). The blued one is giving me a rea challenge as far as clean up but I think it's going to shoot the 300gr 458 in an org sabot extreemly well, verdict is still out as I only had 2 of them with me last week.

I kinda followed the development of early .50 cal Knight rifles as I started with the MK-85, Original D.I.S.C, and now the Elite. Still have them all... with a .45 Elite on the way. I currently switch between my .50 Elite and T/C Omega. .. both are good shooters. I was more interested in retro-fitting the bolt and B/P from the Ultimate Slam than in the new gun itself. The Elite is well balanced and handles recoil very well. I also like the non-hollow stock... I'm probably "preaching to the choir" .. I'll just say it works for me:

Thanks guys: As you may know I have a Triumph on lay-away--black with weathersheild. Seems like the crowd here is equally divided between Knight's and T/C's? I wanted an easy cleaning ML and although all my center fires are bolt actions, the easy to clean, three moving parts is what sold me and I do like break-opens, in this case. Thought about selling my Traditions Pursuit Pro, but I'm beginning to like it--since almost everyone here helped with bullets and powder, scopes and the like. I have to drive an hour out of my way to get BH209, but will soon. What I had heard here was the big price difference, but I haven't seen that when looking at Knight's. I found they're pretty close price wise in this neck of the woods. Am I wrong? Have a great day! Dave

Rob, you left out LK 93, bighorn, & T-bolt. I kept the MK 85 and have no intention of ever selling it, but it's more of a safe queen nowdays

They seem to really shine with BH209 and definitely easier to clean. With respect to BH209... consider yourself lucky you can get it only a 1 hr drive away. I haven't found a shop here that handles it yet... so I have to order online and pay a $22 Haz-Mat charge. I think price-wise Knight has offerings that cover real basic to high end guns. Problem is they have so many models and different action types (IMO some good / some not so good) so you need to research before you buy (just like you 're doing) . I'm sure you'll be happy with your Triumph. BTW keep the Traditions... I keep all my old MZ's.. they don't eat much ;D

Thanks guys, ya just removed my "jitters." Wonder whay BH209 is so hard to find? Seems to me like it catching on like wildfire! Have a great day! You sold me on keeping my traditions, we're becoming pals, althought I would argue that it DOES eat a lot. I've stuffed more stuff down it's throat then a robin had it's young! Have a great day! Dave

If smokeless ML's hadn't come along, I would be using my Disc rifle. This gun has done it all for me here in NYS. It's a dirty beast. If I don't dis-assemble it after 10 shots, I may break a wrench. Back when it was in service full time this was just part of the game. I was shooting 150 FFFg Goex and nosler 250 partitions and Barnes 250 MZ's. Dozens of deer and woodchucks. Speed was just under 2000 fps and I thought I had it all...and I did.
The 2 other Disc's in camp are also owned by Savage shooters who upgraded. These 2 guns are used by the guys kids. They kill a lot of deer with them and during preseaon, it's fun to watch them shoot these guns very well at targets. Both kids are using 120-130 gr FFg goex and 300 SST and XTP-mags. They kill everything they point at. They have great teachers and they love these guns....and hate cleaning them. ;D
Great great guns IMO. Have many many memorable moments with mine. Smokeless sure back burnered them though! Will never sell mine. Looking for a straighter stock...the original has a heck of a steep drop that makes it tough from the bench. Anyone got one? I'd buy it tomorrow. The other 2 guns have been equipped with them and it helped.

Interesting that you bring up Goex, because it's on sale in my area in the form of a black powder sub and it comes in both sticks and powder. Anyone know if the stuff is any good? Clean burning? Accurate? Thanks, Have a great day! Dave
