Day Packs?
Mine is 15 lbs +/-
In it contains what I carry for a normal days hunt during winter months. It gets adjusted for early fall hunts and archery hunts of course.
Swarovski SLC 8x42 Binos Nikon Laser800 Rangefinder Cabela's Diamantinaâ„¢ Merino Wool Jacket Goretex Bibbers Wool Gloves Glove Liners Spare Gloves Spare Orange watch cap Balaclava 4 Speed Loaders Cleaning tools for ml Multi tool Field Dressing kit (Schrade Old timer.) Been my knife for over 20 years. Folding Camp Saw Deer Grunt Fire starting kit. Basic first aid stuff and pain meds. Lens Pen 4 Zip Ties (Comes in Handy for lots of stuff including tagging deer) Para cord. Small section of blind material. Doubles as emergency shelter if needed. Bottle of water Diaper Wipes for when nature calls and for clean up of blood. 2 LED flashlights and spare batteries 1 seat cushion
If I were hunting out west or on a trek in parts unknown I would probably add a few more things like extra socks, some food rations. Maybe some extra gloves and undergarments. Layers!!!!!!

I had the pleasure of going on my first Mule Deer hunt in North West/Central Nebraska and did a lot of walking and glassing. I am trying to find a reasonable day pack that will hold my stuff, the one I have is just a little too small.
Redfield Rampage Spottiing Scope Vanguard Tripod Kodac Playsport Video Camcorder Handwarmers Foam Butt Pad Trail Mix 2 30oz Water Bottles Reload Kit for ML Knives and Cable Saw Range Finder Lighter GPS Compass Baby Wipes
What I would like to carry with a little bigger bag
Heavy Jacket Artic Cat Boot Covers Poncho Liner Rain Gear Little more food First Aid Kit Extra Gloves Extra Socks
I have a 5500 cubic inch pack then a small day pack I think it might be around 1000 cubic inches think 2200 or so would be better but I haven't seen one that would work the way I want it too.

I go fairly llight compared to some others. I use a fannypack with:
1 - orange vest for retrieving game 1 - emergency poncho 1 - map of my area 2 - knives 5 - reloads 1 - ML tools (ball starter & ramrod guide) 1 - multitool 1 - flashlight 1 - set batteries (123 & CR2) 1 - game bags 1 - qt water 1 - poptart 1 - firestarter 1 - gps 1 - compass 100' of paracord I have a set of Geovids around my neck
My Eberlestock J105 is ready at camp for the pack out once successful.

+1 on Crooked Horn Products. Mine is going on probably 20+ years as I think I got it around 1991. It has held up extremely well with only the plastic Buckles needing to be replaced a couple of times mostly from me being abusive to it slamming truck doors on it it and such. The Zippers are still functioning like they day they were purchased. With most any other pack the zippers would be worn out by now. Its been dropped from tree stands a couple of times. Been on 4 wheeler trips out west. Rode horse back many a times. Had blood dripped all over it inside and out. I quartered out two hogs with it once. Its even been drowned once on a canoe trek. I love all the accessory strap points it has on the outside. As you may be able to see I have my Gore Tex wool jacket strapped to the bottom of the pack. It has nice accessory compartments without being too compartmentalized. That is what I hate about a lot of modern bags is they try to compartmentalize the bag so much that you cannot really pack anything in there. This bag seems to fit anything I need in it and I really don't have to DIG to find what I need. Ive gotten so use to where everything is I can find whatever I need in the dark if I need to. And often times I need too. The Material is nice and Quite. Very soft to the touch but tough as nails. Has yet to tear or get thin in the cargo areas. As Stated before with any other bag I feel I would have gone through 3 or 4 bags by now. I feel sure this bag will probably go the rest of my days since it carries a lifetime warranty. I highly recommend them. Most of my hunting buddies have gotten one based on my recommendation and could not be happier. The ones that accepted cheap substitutes have been disappointed in cargo management or have gone through several packs due to busted zippers or ripped seams and or materials over the years.
