If you were going to use one primer exclusivly in your ML what would it be?
Because I hunt in cold weather a lot I started with the Fed 209A and haven't seen a reason to change. I'm planning on buying a case but am wondering what everyone else is using.

I have used about all available 209 primers. All fired but I hunt at times in cold weather so I shoot CCI mags. They may not be any hotter or stronger but they have worked well for me.

This poll was a little hard to decide for us guys that shoot both 50 and 45 cal. My HB 50cal like the Win 209's and the RB Pacnor 45 likes the CCI 209M's.

My reason was simple......When I got my ML, I happen to have several thousand Winchester 209's on hand from when I was loading a lot shotgun shells for trap. They seemed to work just fine for me and Herman was also using them for years with no complaints. Two weeks ago, we were fortunate enough to find a sleeve of 5,000 of them which we split. So at this point, I'm using WW 209's ;D Richard

Like Dave no listing for me to vote. Cheddite primers have always fired for me either in wet or cold condition. Good fit and no sticking probem in bolt head.

CCI's regular type. Never a misfire. Readily available.

CCI's simply because they work and are easy to find and aren't hard on the pocketbook. Have a great day! Dave

I should have put one of the selections as "other." I don't think I can modify the poll now. Thanks for voting! Now only if some of the online retailers would get some in stock! Along with 2015, 4198 and BH209. The odds of one retailer having all of them is probably close to zero though.

Although I only now use Federal 209m primers, (I bought 5000 at a could not pass up price), I have used CCI 209m and Winchester 209a primers and never saw any difference in accuracy. I use the Feds because they are reported to be slightly hotter than all other 209s, at least that is what I have read.
Federal 209 primers must be longer than others like Winchester 209s because the Federals once placed in my Encores breach plug will NOT allow the action to close. Tried it and was nearly sorry for doing so.

I shoot a lot of trap. And Fed. 209a's are at the top of most primer brisance charts. I reload my hulls with WW 209's because I'm concerned about primer bump. I feed my MLII Winchester's too, because I'm sitting on 4 cases of them. I also wonder about primer bump in my muzzleloader with powders that burn slower than WST in my shotgun because 250 grains has a lot less inertia than an ounce and an eighth. Which leads me to wonder if slower powders with half the projectile weight and twice the pressure cancels primer bump or doubles it. Deep thoughts in the wee hours of a graveyard shift.

You left Wolf and Fiocie off your list. :-) all three work well for Smokeless.
I am even successfully using Rem 209-4 primers with my recessed BP.
I need to make another BP that has undersized tight fittin Primer holder to use up my old supply of Rem 157s ( anyone else got any?)
The first 100 Primers my Brother Bryan put threw his 10MLII were Rem 197s. :-)

So far, I have only used WW 209 and CCI 209, both standard, but I have not used any H-4198 yet. I understand it may be harder to ignite. I was unable to find any MAG primers locally. I plan to try the Fed 209A, if I can ever find some.
