Posted last week about the deer that I had shot with the 250 sst. Yesterday I got a 250 yd shot at a spike slightly quartering away from me. Still using the same load that I used last week--N110+15 grs/N130 +55 grs grs. I didn't get a pic of the entrance and exit last week but the 250 in the 50 cal. I used looked just like the one below except the exit was about the size of a 50 cent piece. For the ones that didn't see the pics I posted last week.I used the 250 sst in both calibers. Have taken a lot of deer shooting the savage since the first year they came out, from 50 to 300yds,and the only bullet I have used is the sst. Entrance: Exit:

I hear ya Herman! The 200 SST in the 45 has worked so well for me on alot of deer that I'm reluctant to use any thing else. I've got a full box of 75 of the Barnes 195 with the flat base that I haven't ever used because I like the SST so much. Congrats in the deer!
GOOD SHOOTING! Slufoot

Hopefully you missed the off shoulder!! I shot one last year with a 240 XTP and blew the shoulder where I couldn't get any meat off of it. That shot was at 10 yards though and wasn't shooting smokeless at that time. Either way I won't be shooting the shoulder any more if I can help it!! Awesome shot man keep the pictures coming!!!!!!!!

I have never shot the SST's out of any of my 50cal. Ml10's, I use it's big brother the 325 FTX because I like the .458 dia. bullets for the Savage. But I started using the 250gr. 45cal. SST's in my Knights when that bullet first hit the market and still do to this day and have boxes of them in the cabinet. Now my BIL using them in his 50cal. Ml10 and between his Savage and my Knight's there have been many deer taken with the SST.

Good report Herman. I saw your similar report on the NC H&F board. In our group of smokeless shooters (7), two use the 200 sst, one uses the 250sst and 4 use the 195 Barnes. Agree that on NC deer, pass through shots are routine with the SST.

The 250SST's from my 10ML-II are pretty devastating out to 165yds thus far @ 2330fps. I stay well away from heavy bone though because that bullet is pretty frangible at that velocity.
One wounded deer was looking directly at me from 80yds and I took him right through the schnozzola as that was all he gave me for a shot. Unhinged his jaw, bugged his lookers right out and never exited. Blood pouring from every orifice. What a mess.

Nice shot Herman. I suspect you would reduce them to possession with any number of bullets. You make SSTs work for you. What more can you ask?
