Yummy! What more can I say? We have canned 14 qt and 21pt of venison now. Tried a few different ingredients but think we like (for qts) 1 bullion cube, 1 tsp canning salt, and 1/4 onion the best. Easy enough, and great flavor. We really like the sauteed onion, canned deer, and Sweet Baby Rays BBQ recipe. Read that one from DB, thanks bud. Also, making gravy with the juice is awesome, and we just put it back in with the meat and mix, served over noodles and it can't be beat. Our 2 year old is a big meat eater already, and he loves deer and turkey. So this canning deal has really put a new option on recipes for us. Thanks to all who have contributed some great recipes and info.

Yeah man! I knocked out 9 "pint and a halfs" along with 5 pints of elk meat this weekend. I used: 1 tsp beef base 1/2 tsp sea salt 1/2 tsp onion flakes 1/2 tsp chopped garlic dry raw pack and 15# for 90 min.
Ooohhh yeah, them some good vittles.

Tar talked me into it when he described "ease of use". Being able to open the jar and have the meal on the table in 20 minutes is a big plus. Plus I think it improves at about 6 months plus.
Does the beef base taste better then bullion cubes or is the same basic stuff? Some of the bullion cubes are just about pure MSG.

Same here, I think the base is not as salty. I use 1 tbsp of the base in 2 cups of water and add 2 tbsp of flour to make a gravy to go over the canned elk. I had a jar for dinner tonight. My dog was drueling like a leaky faucet waiting for a bite.
