Even though I have had very good accuracy & speed with H4198 & H322 powders in my 28" Pacnor 45 barrel I wonder if there are other powders that my longer barrel could utilize ?
Thanks smitty

Never tried these, barrels' too short, maybe IMR 3031, N133, or Benchmark in addition to what Dave said.

Dave is 2015 a little slower than H322 ? The reason I ask is I've gotten just over 2800fps with 72gr of H322 but the accuracy wasn't as good as 70gr. Or am I fool for looking for more speed ?

Not the same Dave but I think 2015 is slower, I can use a couple more grains of booster with 2015 than H322 and not blow sabots.

hillbill, 70gr of H322 put me in the 2770's fps with very good accuracy so I'm probably a fool looking for more ?

Harvestor lite blue crush rib sabots & 200gr sst's. I've also shot a the 195gr barnes expanders which seemed to shoot the same but I hate to waste them punching paper.

smitty, all I have shot so far is 4198 & blue harv/ 200 sst but I am looking forward to some different powders with the 200s, I too am a speed demon and as long as it stays accurate I will see how fast I can push it before I try sabotless....Bill

Harvestor lite blue crush rib sabots & 200gr sst's. I need a little education on the sabot part of this equation . What is the "Harvestor Lite Blue Crush Rib Sabot" ? If I stay with H4198 in the 60-62 grain range will the standard Hornady sabots that come with the 200 SST not hold up ?

6ptsika - I tried a few of the hornaday sabots that come with the 200 sst's but I didn't care for how they loaded or shot but that doesn't mean they won't work for you or someone else. I'm partial to Harvestor Crush Rib Sabots because they have worked so well in my 50 cal also.
hillbill - 60gr of H4198 gives me right at 2700fps & 65gr of R7 got me in the 2740's and both are very accurate. I'll try some 2015 next.

I used 70 grains of 2015, Barnes 195 Expanders, and Harvester blue crush rib sabots to start with and plan on trying 72 grains next time. That combination shot great from my long 30" barrel. Kudos, once again, for Dave d's suggestion for the above load combination.! I was thinking of shooting again tomorrow but I need to wait until I get a Chronograph first as those Barnes 195 grain Expanders are expensive to punch paper with, like Smitty says. If I'm gonna shoot them again, I want to know the speed. If I do my part, I feel, my Pac-Nor can shoot one hole groups all day using 2015!
