My guess as long as the head spacing is fine you should be OK. I can't see Savage producing a less quality breech plug for their BP version.

Kevin,
If I never post again, you will know I was wrong.
When Savage sells the new plug, they DON'T say only use it in the BP rifle. That should be the tip off. Plus, when I ordered mine, I said to Joe DeG, I happy Savage switch to the hex

What I heard was that Savage will be using nothing but the new hex breech plug design after they use up there supply of old breech plugs. I hope this is true. Steve

Just screw them in and bang away.
If you think amount it, in lawsuit crazy country, we have become, with folks suing because their coffee was too hot, why would a firearm company put out a weaker product. When you get the BP from Savage, the invoice doesn't say, for use with bp only.

When you get the BP from Savage, the invoice doesn't say, for use with bp only. I went over to the Rw site just for curiosity. RW says time and again that the new BP are fine to use with smokeless..It sure is nice not to disturb the action anymore. Drop

In one post it was stated that the new breechplug is approved for BP subs only, (no smokeless), and then about two posts later it was stated that the new breechplug was OK to use in the 10ML-II. So I suggested that this might be just a tad confusing to some... and would like some clarification. I was then told it shouldn't be confusing at all. I finally asked point blank whether or not the new hex head breechplug used in the new 10ML-BP, (which also happens to fit the 10ML-II), is safe to use with smokeless in the 10ML-II and got a resounding "Yes."
