I have a .38 smokeless, 1 in 12 twist barrel that I would like to shoot saboted with grey MMP sabots with 8mm (.323) bullets. The bullets range from 125, 150, 170 and 200 grains. I would prefer to more quickly use the 125 and 150 grain bullets. The speed should be somewhere around/over 3000 fps. I would like to use one type powder. Any suggestions on the powder and load? I am hopeful rbinar, sw and edge and others have some thoughts. As always safety is the first consideration, followed by accuracy, dependability and speed. A cleaner powder would be preferred, wondering if 4350 or slower might be a consideration. Thanks for responding.

Since I know you have N140 it could very well reach or exceed 3000fps with a 150 grain bullet. However as with every thing the trick is to get in at a safe place and then work up if it's possible. With this very light weight bullet faster powders are of use. N130 H322 Xmr-2015 and N133 all would work to a degree either just short or at your suggest speed with either the 150 or 125 grain bullet. The faster powders would work better with the lighter weight bullet. I'll have to do some work for an honest starting load but I'll try to report on that by this weekend.

I can get about any powder but I have on hand 4350, VV120, 4759 and 4198. Your help here is appeciated as I am a bit in no man's land as compared to the 40 and 45 which have a bit more actual usage and shooters. I am getting excited about giving the .38 a try. Thanks again
