This little copper bullet continues to amaze me with its lethality. I dropped the hammer on a big bodied buck at a lasered 262 yds. I had to laser it after the fact as I had left the laser in the Jeep..my initial estimate of this deers weight is putting him at the 280 lb mark... maybe more. In all honesty I rushed a shot at 100-125 yds and he moved as I shot for a clean miss. He hauled arse and made the fatal mistake of stopping in the open. I settled the cross hairs a little high on the shoulders and he dropped at the shot. The autposy revealed 3 little copper petals just under the hide near the exit wound. It was a complete pass thru both shoulders hitting bone in and out. I am convinced that this little copper bullet out performs any jacketed lead bullet by far. The following is the entrance pic followed by the exit. "Q" got a little crazy with the knife in this pic... ;D

That's a pretty good test: Long shot, big deer, bones. DRT.
I would say Ideal. I can't imagine what a 300 Weatherby mag with a bullet weight twice as much going about as fast would do to a whitetail......WAIT....I almost do know! A 250 gr TMZ going 2900 fps from a Savage is a real jelly maker on 50 yd shots.

I am not capable of making shots past that in field conditions. I think that it is lethal past 300 yds but that probally will not be proven by me unless I set up a bench along the edge in the one field.

That bullet and speed is making up for the lack of size.

What you shootn,243? I use a 75 gr speer and whack 300 pound Mule deer and black bear with most DRT results. Never under estimate speed....

Countless posts on other boards talk about the .243 being only marginal for deer. I've given up attempting to explain that the evolution of bullets the past 10-15 years has made smaller calibers equal to larger calibers of yesterday......that today's bullets for the .243 has made it close to equal of yesterday's .25-06.
Tar, your photo's are worth a thousand words. Probably can't convince the "marginal" crowd who will not admit even to themselves that they didn't really need the mega-magnum cannons which they abuse their bodies with at the range!! Heck, we've got way overkill with the 10MLII's, whether it be .50 or .45, even .40!

I agree totally Danno. I find nothing marginal about this round. I have shot a bunch of deer this summer om the depredation hunts. They have all been one shot kills with only 2 going any distance and they were already heading down hill. Upon impact they appear to be hit by a Mack truck. I shoot 3 last night with this round with the longest shot being at the 180 yd mark on a live weight deer of approx. 170....instant dirt nap...over and over again. I have recovered 1 bullet out of all of these deer. I tried to get another last night but it blew out the rear hip after traveling full length. This round is a deer killing machine that is easy on your shoulder and back..whats not to like? ;D
