Okay I already have heard the way to go for a 10ML in 40 or 45 is with a PacNor barrel .
I got a 10ML last season with a factory barrel and the thing shoots very very well !
So I am thinking of getting a second to rebarrel to 45 .
I've already done a good bit of hunting with Knight Disc Rifles in 45 and 50 so I am well aware of the abilities of the 45 caliber inline .
Now to my question !
What are the loads those of you that have converted a 10ML to 45 use ? In my 50 I shoot the Hornady 250 SST and 42 grains of VV N-110 . If possible I would like to stick with VV N-110 and the Hornady 200 SST . But will this bullet powder combination give me a decent velocity in a 45 compared to other powders you guys may have tried ?

Also if one were to rebarrel to a 40 cal PacNor barrel does anybody make a decent polymer tipped sabot for the 40 ?
I realize in "some" jurisdictions a 40 cal will be illegal .

Check out the "Tips" section for loads. Tons of them
As for factory available Polymer tipped bullets, not sabots, the same one is available to you as when you shot your .45 BP inlines...notably the 200 SST which is .400....shot saboted in a .45 and sabotless in a .40.

No it's not possible to shoot N110 in a 45 caliber, well maybe possible but not sane. If you truly want to shoot 45 or 40 caliber smokeless the common loads you see on this board are the way to go. They have been around a long time and provide safe powerful levels. Because a 45 caliber rifle makes pressure a lot easier than a 50 caliber rifle choice of powder and load are much different. Those who have tried to translate loads form one caliber to another quickly find it's not a good idea. If you want to shoot a 250 grain bullet a load of about 57 grains of H4198 can make about 2400 to 2500fps depending on a small number of variables. A 200 grain bullet like the SST or Barnes in a sabot can reach 2600+fps with 56 to 60 grains of the same H4198. With other powders speeds can be faster with the recoil limit of your shoulder the stopping point. In 40 caliber loads are far different and a load of straight N110 would be more a bomb than a load so forget that number. Any powder slower than Benchmark makes no sense to me in 40 caliber. If speed is you game a 200 grain bullet will easily make 2800 to 2900fps with the correct load of a powder such a Varget or H4895. USE A PROVEN LOAD, I have no interest in reading your name in the newspaper.

I have used 4759 in my 40 and it works "sorta OK", but only for VERY REDUCED LOADS. The maximum load for a powder that fast burning would be in the 20 - 28 grain range and would be pretty anemic. My 180gr XTPs with 28gr gave 2050fps and .75" accuracy at 50yd. It was OK but not the tack-driving accuracy I get with H322 and Varget. 4759 is really great as a 7gr booster load with 63 grains of Varget with 200gr XTPs. Better accuracy and velocity than I get with the Varget alone. That gives me consistent 1/2" accuracy at 100yd and 2750fps.

A 200 grain bullet like the SST or Barnes in a sabot can reach 2600+fps with 56 to 60 grains of the same H4198. I checked out the load data in this forum and it's telling me 60-62 grains of H4198 with the 200 SST will get me in the 2600-2700 range . It would have been nice if I could stock one powder for both . But adding H4198 to my inventory is no big deal !
