As I have not been satisfied with the accuracy of my .50 Cal. rifle. I have decided to try some heavier bullets.I have every kind of sabots and powder( you can tell right here that I haven't found the combination). Where would be a starting point for powder? Speed is not as important as accuracy. Even if it hurts.Sox

Sox..........I know it can be frustrating (been there - done that ) but I really don't think going with a bullet that heavy is going to be your answer. You will induce more recoil. I think just about everyone on this board has found a bullet in the 250 to 300 gr. range that at least shoots reasonably well. And yes, that includes me! The fact that I shoot a lot of benchrest just means I am more particular about the phrase "reasonably well!" And that is why I'm moving on to a custom Pac-Nor .45 barrel. I could be completely comfortable slaying deer with my .50 but I do more paper punching that hunting hence "reasonably accurate" just does not work. ;D Richard

44 grs 5744, 300 xtp, mmp short black sabot, win primer. should be a winner. maybe you have tried this load already, it is a good one though. good luck!
