Howdy all, No turkey hunting forum so thought I'd post it here. Thx ya'll for all the help in getting started in the smokeless world of muzzleloading. Standard load 250 xtp 3.1cc dipper of AA5744 turkey at 65yds, bullet placed at base of neck, DRT.

Sounds like a good hunt with a great shot. I bet there's a few more kills in that Savage!

Congratulation on the shot and the turkey. I guess with the Savage you don't have to worry about calling them in to close. Steve

I don't think many people have made their first MLII kill on a turkey.

In NYS it would be illegal. Are you gonna grill it? ;D

killitgrillit- Nice shot. I'm guessing the 250gr XTP held up quite well! Great excuse to get the Savage out. I have to wait until fall.

In NYS it would be illegal. Are you gonna grill it? ;D Ditto here in Arkansas. If not I would have gotten about a dozen last fall. Our place is lousy with turkeys. Guess I should take my crossbow with me to the stand during ML season. They are legal with that.

I'm envious. Here in AR, as has been stated, no rifles/MLers for turkey. The 250 XTPs have been catagorized as being a highly expansive/frangible bullet: did you get a pass-thru?

In Ohio we cannot use rifles for turkeys either.
