I understand there is a person on this site that can do a H&R 45-70 conversion. Where would I get a Savage BP and approx. cost of the plug. What kind of accuracy could I expect?

I sell the plugs for $35 shipped. Slufoot on here can do the chambering.

Do you plan on using BH209 or smokeless?
I've heard nothing but praises for Slufoot's work.
Do you know the rifle twist? Accuracy will depend on many things, just as the BP rifles go. Probably cannot scope that rifle (I wouldn't want to), but the target sights could get you near 1" with a good rest. The quality of the barrel needs to be good. That is one good lookin' rifle!

Hello Bigiron, I can supply the work and Luke at Arrowhead Sporting Goods LLC, can supply the Savage BP and most anything else you might need for your new ML. I did a Buffalo Classic for someone this spring but he decided the 32" barrel was to long for his taste and had me to cut it 26" long.
GOOD SHOOTING! Slufoot

Slufoot did my encore conversion and Luke supplied the rest, both men are first class.

I think if your gun is accurate know it should be after the conversion and if you want an SML and don't want the 45/70 anymore I think its a great idea.

You can also buy another 45/70 barrel for it for not much money if you still want to use cartridges.
