This is Betty, the latest and last 700ML build................ She's not much to look at as she was intended to be a cheap no frills working gun, with "cheap" being the key word. Barrel is from Montana Rifleman, it was a X-mas over run special they had last year, 26" stainless 18 twist, with a .402 bore and a .409 groove. Bullets will need to be bumped up to bore size, but for $70, I couldn't pass it up. Stock is a factory Remington VLS I traded a old Mec 600 Jr for, base gun was a blued 700ML picked up for $120 on a tip from a fellow board member, and a $10 can of Brownells Alumahyde II to make it all match. Scope is a old but trusted Leupold 4.5-14 x 40 Vari X III I've had since they first came out, and diffently the most expensive part of this package!!! It'll be a couple of weeks before I can get out to see what she does on paper and will report the results.

Dang, that's a pretty rifle. I truly appreciate the budget-yet-effective jobs. I hope she shoots as nice as she looks. If I'd known you put that together I may have made excuses to find time to say hi while I was up there last weekend.

Sure doesn’t look cheap to me and appears she means business.
Nice work.

Won't need to "bump up" a 41 Mag bullet, just squish it a bit. 210gr XTP .411" could be easily reduced to .402" They come out of my Lee .401" resizer die at .4018". Would be happy to send you some to try, but they are telling me that everything is "out of stock" at the moment. I need to order some .411" REM 210gr SP and some 210gr XTPs but everyone insists they are not available. Bummer.

8-)Al I love it.
If you are going to size bullets a bunch of folks make a .411 300 grainer for the .405 Winchester.

thanks for the comments fellas. I'll have to weigh it up and see. She has a little heft, but balance is perfect. Doug, I'm taking meds for my ML addiction (AR15's and AR10's) doc says it'll be on them for at least a year, with therapy for a long time after that! Andy, should've stopped in to chat, no doubt you passed the house if you came and went on 53. Chuck, I have some 41cal Remmys and XTP's thanks to Dave W and Muddy, just need to make a couple of dies to knock them down. Your right thou, those 41cals are sure slow coming back around. Rb, have some of those 300gr Hornadys 405's for a rifled 410 project I have simmering on the back burner. I'll get her wrung out with the lighter stuff but plan was to launch a few of those heavy pills sometime.

Al, you keep building this kinda stuff and I'm going to have drive alittle further north and deliver those Hornady's in person, I'll have to make sure they shoot before I leave! Great looking gun Al and +1 on the "cheap" thought. Later, muddy

Buddy, only way that thing could look any finer is if you found a way to slap a couple double Ds on there...
