:)guys took the pac-nor encore out for it's second range trip today to see if i could follow up that 1/2" group @200yrds i had last week and it's safe to say it was no fluke.the scope did not slip this trip(thank's guys for all the little tips to stop it) and today the temps were around 80 degrees with a varying 10 to 12mph breeze.all shot's were 58grs of h-4198,195bx,harvestor sabot, lit off with cci mag primer.here's 100yrds: here's 200yrds(i really did call that third shot): and for the grand finally and to this date the smallest group i've ever shot with a muzzleloader: i ran out of 300yrd targets so i just used one of my 200yrd targets for this last group.if it wasn't for that one shot on that 200yrd target today i would have had 4 consecutive targets 1/2 moa or better.to say i'm happy is a understatement.i have 3 encore barrels that are all tack drivers so next week there getting packed up and sent out to get black iced.

I don't know if it is all the airgun practice or what-but man can you get the most out of a gun! Spectacular results again and to top it off with the powder and bullet of your choice. Can't ask for more.

No wonder you called this Topic "two and done", Dave. That rifle has nothing more to prove. Great shooting !

;D Dave D. Great job in creating another fine shooter. I am VERY excited that you choose the Encore as your platform on which to build. For those of us that may be interested in trying to duplicate what you have done could you please list the manufacture(s) and specifications. Thanks again--the targets you post time and time again are second to none.

Very nice shooting. I think the Duracoat is a better finish, you should check it out.

range 5 minutes tops sometimes less. Wow... in 80* temps with sabots... do you think you are getting by with this short a wait due to the 4198 not burning as hot, like N110 does?

Dave
Overall lovely shooting as usual and that 1.343” at 300yds is one heck of an accomplishment. Your results with a 45 are touching (teasing) me again. ;D

I don't think the douglas is lapped... pretty sure I asked them when I called... Makes me wonder if mine needs a good lapping... 5 minutes beats 15 minutes any day

I am satisfied that the results can't all be credited to the rifle. It is nice to read about someone who has succeeded in their efforts. Congratulations and I will add one other comment. Not half of us readers could duplicate what you have done using the same rifle and load. Good job.

I've reported here for a few years about 5 minute wait times using hefty charges of H4198 in my gun. While I don't always shoot cloverleafs, I can't remember blowing a sabot. Would blow them all the time in the early days and 42-44 gr N110 and 250 gr bullets.
I feel for you guys that only shoot 3-4 times an hour or have to use barrel coolers. Do I have a slick barrel? I don't know. As far as I know it's a plain-jane stock SS barrel.

Wilms, your posts were in the back of my mind when I posted above. If I could get 4198 to be pressure reliable with 250 gr saboted bullets in my .50 at 2300 fps, I'd be using it. 4 shots per hour is... tedious.
I'm looking into making a barrel cooler now.

Maybe a duplex with a minor charge of 5744 or 4759 would be the ticket? Dunno. H4198 is not a powder for single use at those speeds and a 250 gr bullet....IMO
