Dave, really great shooting there pal. I have a couple of questions though, as I have been asleep through most of this stuff. What is the muzzle velocity of this load?
Exactly what bullet is it that you are shooting? I know you wrote a 195BX but is that a barnes? Which one ?
What is the REAL Bc as far as you can tell, and what does your drop table look like?
Also is this your go to load now or have you found something better?
Thanks Dwight

Dave, I think the Encore has such a nice feel and size. To get this performance in such a nice sized/feeling rifle must be very satisfying. Suggestion: keep it. What scope are you using? If money grew on trees, a Nightforce 32mm 2.5X10 mil dot would be ideal, IMO. A great little gun deserves a great little scope. Steve

Very good shooting there Dave.I don't know how I missed your post in july but I did. When I first looked at it today and it had july dates I couldn't figure out what was going on till I got to page 2. Maybe I should have kept my encore and got a smokeless barrel for it. Again great groups.

Dave so you are saying you are zeroed 2 inches high at 100 yds, then you are 2.5 inches low at 200 yds, and 13.5 inches low at 300 yds. Sounds like you went with a point blank range type of zero and should be good to about 260 or so, with a dead on hold, is that correct? Of course that depends on target size you calculated on. I am assuming 6 in. Did not do the math, just guessing here. If I guess a little more if you zeroed this 3.25 high at 100, you would be dead on at 200 and about 10 inches low at 300 yds, and maybe about 2 ft at 400 yds, does this sound right? What I am getting at is this looks like a real contender for the 400 yd line. Your thoughts?

Dwight, It is the Barnes so many of us have been shooting. It has also been sold as the Knight Red Hot 195 and 175. Barnes also calls it the 195 Expander but it doesn't have the size hole, even proportionately, that the 250 and 300 Barnes Expander MLing bullets have. It is a relatively small hollow point. It is a 40 cal bullet. Hope this helps. Steve

I really liked the encore too,the only reason I let one of my brothers have it is because someone broke into his house and stole all his guns.He still takes deer with it every year but he said he uses the 250 sst's now. When I had it the 50 cal shot the 200 gr bullets as good as any reg rifle at 100 yds and worked great on deer. These are with the 195 barnes and the 200 sst,sw,and xtp shot the same one holers at 100 yds. I have a 45 barrel and a 25/06,never could get the 45 to shoot as good as the 50 barrel but the 25/06 my buddie Bill and I shot it with a load I worked up at 300yds,five 3-shot groups and all 5 groups went less than an inch.
