I have been a avid Leupold nut for years. Over a year ago i started playing around with the Nikon Omega BDC muzzleloader scope. I really ended up not liking that reticle but love the Nikoplex reticle. Little thicker cross hairs and 5" eye relief just works really well for me. The scope seems very clear in all light conditions as well. I actually bought one of the new Leupold Ultimate slam scopes, and Leupold actually sent me one to play around with. To make a long story short, i havent really played with it. I did mount it on my Knight Vision and shot it with really nothing special to brag about. Good glass, very clear and well made like any other Leupold scope. These Nikons really impress me for some reason and i dont really know why. Do any of you like Nikon scopes? How do you compare the Buckmasters to the Leupolds? I'm anxious to hear some other opinions on these scopes.

I've never owned a Leupold so I can't make a comparison. I do know that I've had excellent results with Nikons. I own a Nikon 3-9X Buckmaster that is very clear and tracks great. Better yet I've shot 500+ rounds through it with my Savage / 300gn bullets / 2300+ fps without a problem. For $200 you can't beat it. Zen

I've been a Nikon fan for quite awhile. I've had several Buckmaster's, and they always performed well on a variety of guns. They're very clear and bright. I'd compare it to a VX-I Leupold. Recently I upgraded to a couple of Monarch's with the BDC reticle, I'm looking forward to playing with them at the range soon.

I have a few Leo's and a couple of the Nikon Monarchs, and they'll run head to head with anyone out there. I'm not much on their BDC reticle either, wish they would replace those circles with cross bars.

The Nikon that came with Ozarks gun is more clear and sharp then my leupolds. (VXI's II's and III's) It's bright too. I can not give anyone my opinion on tracking. But I zeroed this gun in with a light load 2 weeks ago and have shot 100 or so rounds. Zero has held.
So far I like the scope.

I really like my Monarchs! I have 3 UCC's and 1 of the new ones. Recently got a Nikon Omega because they were so cheap. Bought it strictly for my the ML my girlfriend uses. I don't want to have to expalin to her dad why she has a scope scar above her eye. Glass seems pretty good. I mounted it on an Omega just for fun. I don't think I like the 5" eye relief on the Omega, but on the Wolverine I think it will "fit" better.

I have several Leupold's and no complaint's. Last season I allowed myself to be talked in to trying the NIKON Omega with a nikoplex reticle..I thought I liked it so well I bought another one before I really shot the first one. They are as clear as my Leupold's and I cant really fault them while I have owned them. I let one go and still have one on a 12ga Ultra slugger that we call the "mule". I really don't like 5" of eye relief as much as I thought I would. There can be a lot of side distraction's in that distance. Also come to think of it..I cant get anything to shoot well out of that gun. I have checked the mounts and base . Both are torqued to 25 and 30 inch pound's. I have tried 7 different slug's with it and nothing shoots a tight group @ 100yds. Now I got myself to thinkin. But in all fairness the scope seems to be of good quality. As far as the reticle BDC , I didn't want to mess with that..to many variable's that I could mess up..All those circle's and line's... That's why I use a single pin on my bow also. Drop

Buying a scope is alot like marrying a woman. You commit and hope for the best. I bought my first Leupold for my hand cannon. It has taken a beating for 15 years and is ever faithful. Nikon might be just as good, but I go with what I know.
Many years ago I bought a higher end tasco to put on my Mossberg trophy slugster. It took a beating every year for 12 years then shot craps. That only proves that every once in a while even a cheesey outfit like tasco mistakenly puts out a good product.
My feeling is Nikon might be great today. If I buy a scope tomorrow it will be the begininng of their making junk phase. I just don't trust them.
Just an old farts opinion.
