Here is a little buck taken with a plain ol' Savage. 42 grains of N110- 300 Grain XTP-MMP Short sabot. 60 yard broadside shot=Dead on impact. Just love hunting with the Savage muzzleloader. Special thanks to Boarhog and many others who helped me get this gun shooting 2 1/2 years ago. In the beginning I went through two cheap Bushnell scopes, two sets of rings and bases, primers that wouldn't let me close the bolt, primers that gut stuck all the time, bullet and sabot combinations that had me ready to wrap the gun around a tree and I grinded some metal off of some bases due to the recoil lug. In the long run it was well worth it. I ended up with a Zeiss Conquest 3-9x40mm scope, Leupold rings and bases and they were well worth the investment.

Very nice! The Savage is a deer slayer for sure. Glad you worked through the quirks.

Congrats on the harvest! I have trail cam pix of what could be his twin. I haven't seen a legal buck during daylight hours in two years, so if he comes by me, he's in bad trouble! Boarhog
