Years ago I believe I remember a 32 mag H&R revolver. Would you knowledgable shooters consider a 4" barreled 32 mag revolver a practical concealed weapon, and would it suffice for a self protection gun to take hunting way back there where meth , MJ makers/growers might be encountered? Also, for a finishing shot if a wounded bear is a danger?

i think it would be fine but i think ammo might be a little hard to find. if you load your own then with todays bullets you can do alot. if in self defence you are usually at close range. i would think a 357 mag in a revolver with a 4 inch barrel may be a better choice. but as always shot place ment is factor and how accurate you can shoot the caliber.

The 32 mag I feel would serve you well. I have a .32 ACP Seecamp with Glasers that I feel comfortable with. Europe has used the .32 ACP for along time, your cartridge is more powerful. I would be less confident about the bear however although Ozark has killed them with a .17 caliber.

As I said in a previous thread. I teach the permit to carry class in this county. The best gun to have in a gunfight is the one you have with you. A 32 mag. in your waist band is better than the .44 mag. left at home because it's to big to carry. Also a firearm that you can afford an enjoy to shoot will lead to proficiency. A good hit with a .22 is worth more than a miss with 12 ga.

I don't really have many handguns suited for concealed carry, but I believe that my favorite concealed carry caliber would be whatever I had suitable to carry with me.

SW, picking a hand gun for concealed carry does require a fair amount of thought prior to purchase. I am by no means any more knowledgeable than most on this subject and will gladly admit all my knowledge is based strictly on research, even though it is quite extensive in scope, it is still after all only research.
I also strongly believe that the hand gun you need for CC while in a city or urban setting might not best serve you while as you said are "way back where" by that I am to assume you mean out in the hunting woods and in setting more remote with far fewer people and dialing 911 will do you little if any good.
I went through the same thing about 2-1/2 yrs ago. I spent over six months looking at all kinds of guns. I looked at and tried out and did side by side comparisons of the fallowing: 5 & 6 shot snubbie revolvers with barrel lengths of 1.75" or less, from S&W, Charter Arms, Ruger, and Taurus. Ultra compact semi autos from Kahr, Springfield Armory, Taurus, S&W , and Glock.
SW, there are so many good choices of hand guns specifically designed for CC to choose from, one runs the risk of becoming over whelmed and finding quite difficult to choose one to buy.
The best advice I can offer is you must be completely honest in determining what type,( revolver or semi-auto) and caliber of hand gun will best serve your requirements. As others have said you will be far more likely to carry a HG that you are completely comfortable with both in a physical sense as well as a mental one.
I also strongly advise you to try to buy your HG from a store that has a excellent selection of CC specific holsters. As you will find out that deciding which gun to buy for CC is only slightly more of a PITA than finding a holster for it you will be comfortable enough with to wear it often.
As I said I am no CC expert, but if you really wish to carry a 4" revolver concealed I would definitely choose one in .357 magnum as opposed to 32 mag. Reasons for this would be I would feel far more comfortable having to finish off a bear with a 158grn .357 bullet at 1200fps than with any 32 mag out there. Also there is a much much greater selection of both factory ammo and reloading components in .38/.357 than any 32 mag. There are some excellent choices in revolvers available to you SW, more now then ever before.
If I were to have to factor into my CC HGs choice the fact, regardless of how ever remote it might be, the chance I might encounter meth or MJ makers/growers than I would have to definitely give thought to weather or not a five or six shot HG is my wisest choice. Personally I would be far more afraid of a encounter with drug types than bears.
The hand gun I finally bought was the 3" barreled Springfield model XD Sub-compact High capacity AKA Springfield XD SC/HP. I will admit that the Kahr P-9 or P-40 is a better suited HG in terms of light weight concealability as were other HGs, but the XD simply felt like a extension of my hand when I held it. I also preferred the XDs trigger over all other HGs of its type. My only dislike of my XD is it is a bit heavy, but It conceals well and it is far more accurate than needed for its intended application. It was also over $200 cheaper than the Kahr.
I have subscribed to Gun Tests Magazine for over 10yrs now so if you wish SW any hand gun your considering PM me and I will see if GT mag reviewed it, and send you that review. GT mag is brutally honest in their gun reviews as they accept zero advertising. And they test guns designed for CC/personal protection specifically that way to see how they would perform if, God forbid you ever had to use one to defend your self or a loved one.
Good luck in your search SW as I said there really are to many good guns out there to choose from for CC.
