My buddy and I are interested in going Turkey hunting in Tennessee this spring before the season here in Indiana opens. The problem is...we don't know of where to start to find some public lands that are available and hold some birds. If any of you boys from Tennessee could give us your suggestions we'd appreciate it much. You can reply here or send me a PM. Thanks and good luck to you.
P.S. We have shotguns, bows and xbows to hunt with. Thanks again for replies.

I find it difficult to believe that someone from Indiana or Ohio has not told you about my favorite place to turkey hunt ;D. There are more boats with IN and OH registrations on Dale Hollow than TN/KY registrations. Of course they just come down to boat and do not hunt-
Dale Hollow Lake has some incredible turkey hunting and about 25,000 acres on which to do it. Hear a bird gobble and go get him. The Corps of Engineers owns everything from the lake to the ridge and most ridgetops too.
We typically camp on one of many primitive camp sites, hunt in the morning and fish in the afternoon.
You'll need a boat-
Send me a pm and I'll give you a starting place. You may see us down there-

If you don't have a boat and want to do a walk in/or 4-wheeler in hunt, the there is close to 500,000 acres of public lands in Campbell, Scott, Claiborne, and Morgan counties just about an hour north of Knoxville- just inside the state line from KY.
I hunt there a lot too. Great population of turkey.
And convenient to the interstate (I-75).

www.state.tn.us/twra/This link may help if you don't already have it. I don't turkey hunt, but some of my buddies hunt West of Knoxville in the Rosevelt and Catoosa areas.

You can go to the TN state web site and follow the link to TWRA and go to the WMA link or to the area maps site and find all of the public areas. There are many of them. I do not turkey hunt any more but there is everything from mountains to river bottoms to hunt.
