Wondering if anyone has found out how to change the 4 character limit on search terms. This hobble makes the function virtually useless for finding bullet weights, powder #'s, bullet acronyms, etc. It's been mentioned by some to use Google, but I haven't had success with that, as well as my hesitation to support an anti-gun company.

It seems to be working for me. I just searched "Remington" and came up with this thread : dougsmessageboards.proboards.com/index.cgiAre you sure that you have the correct settings for date range? Default is only 7 days...

I'm talking about the 4 character limit on search terms. Any terms such as "250 gr.", "SWC", etc. are eliminated from the search and will yield no results.

Apparently it is in place to prevent searches with too many results from bogging down the proboards server. It doesnt sound like they will adjust it for us. I can see their point though. If you search for "the" - their server has to read and record thousands of records and it becomes an issue for them. Sorry but it seems like we cant get around that limitation.

So why do they offer the search if you have to be a linguist to use it. I've had very little sucess with it. Even when I used more than 3 letters and knew the info was there? Everyone must be a lot brighter than I.

If you scroll down to the bottom of the search page - the default is set to the past 7 days. I usually type in 999 days to go back a ways. Try that and see if it helps. I honestly dont use it that often but it does work as long as you have the variables set the way they should be.
