Anyone tried drying fruit(sliced apples ,pears ,peaches ,etc.) in a gas smoker sans the chips for smoking ? Smoker holds so much more than my dehydrator. Experiences and/or opinions please.

I do not know of anyone who has tried it....the smoker may move things along to quickly?

Sorta wondered about the time/temp factor myself. Gonna set her on low and leave the door ajar. Heck, what's a few apples and some propane ? Nothing ventured nothing gained.

I would let the door open and keep temps in the 120-140 range until you get the moisture out of the fruit so you dont make it into mush. I think this should work. Good luck, Mike
