I have a 2x20 (actually a 1.75x) nikon monarch eer on my s&w 629 light hunter. So far so good after 3 years, and I couldn't use much any more magnification than that hunting. Luepold and burris(posilock models) are also supposed to be pretty good. I'm thinking about picking up a burris 1.5-4x26 posilock. You wanna be the guinea pig?

I have had great luck with the Leopould 2x fixed, on a TC 45-70 which is pretty violent. I would think it should hold up to a .454.
Stay away from the TC scopes as my 45-70 immediately destroyed one. They are really cool with lighted reticle but keep them off the bruisers. TC was good about repair and sent a new one, but I put it on a 22 K hornet as I fear it would do the same again.
good luck.

My Ruger SRH 454 wears a 2x Nikon Monarch. Good glass and its held up to over 300 rounds of ammo. I imagine a 2x Leupold would be just as good. Mike

Mine has a Burris Scout scope on it. It is still holding true, but I am currently working up some loads for it. I shot a wild boar in TX a few years back with the casull. I hit him with a frontal head shot, and found the bullet under the pelvis by the tail. Over 17inches of travel after entering and exiting the skull and punching through the spine. It is a great caliber!

Scotty...........I probably have just the scope you are looking for. It is a Leupold M8 - 2X Extended Eye Relief. The scope is in excellent condition except for a 1/8" nick and a 1/4 inch scratch on the ocular bell. A tiny dab of black paint and they would be just about invisible. The scope has a set of Weaver type rings. Other than those two minor flaws, the scope is perfect. It has a duplex reticle. Just checked Mid-South and they have it for $350.00. I will let it go for $200 to your door. ( I am a regular on the Savage ML board) Richard

I only have one handgun with a scope a Ruger Blackhawk in 357/44mag. I put the scope on it over 20 years ago. I was told by a friend that it was considered on of the strongest scopes at that time and it has a life time guarantee. I was surprised it was made by Thompson Center. He was right it has taken a lot of abuse and still is prefect. This gun not only kick back it also twist to the side because the bullet is going so much faster than the barrel twist was made for. I am not even sure if the still make hand gun scope.
