I am on a tight budget and was wondering if theres a clamp style brake that would work on my contender 14" 6.8spc barrel. Ncstar makes them and I have seen at least one on a contender like them. I can not find a adapter for a .800 barrel or I would go that rout. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks guys!

I would be very cautious about using a clamp style brake on any 6.8. First of all alignment could be an issue and at the least this will be very bad for accuracy and in an extreme case you could end up with a damaged brake and possibly even your barrel. If the alignment is not good and the attachment is not tight, each successive shot would loosen it and eventually the bullet could contact the brake. If/when this happens the brake will get launched down range, it could damage the barrel as it rips away, and in worse case scenario, parts of the bullet, brake, or barrel could cause injury to the shooter or bystanders. I would not recommend it. I know it is expensive to find a good threaded brake and then pay to have your barrel threaded to attach it, however it will no doubt shoot better and add value to the gun and one should have piece of mind that it is safe if one has it installed by a competent machinist.
