For the past four months she has been going downhill health wise. Lately she has had to be turned in bed and lifted from one place to another. She has never complained or showed any signs of self pity. Always upbeat and concerned about others rather than self. She has lost feeling in her feet and hands. Yesterday she had an appointment with a neurologist in Little Rock. Our daughter took her to ER instead because of alarming low blood pressure. A cat scan of here colon showed doctors a need for immediate surgery. She did well during surgery and they said everything went well. They removed the colon. There was no sign of cancer. She was in recovery when my daughter called a couple hours ago. This has been, and is, stressful and depressing for me and the family. She has been my pillar of strength and buddy for over 59 years. Forever cheerful regardless of adversity. Maybe, hopefully, this surgery will mark the beginning of recovery. Bless her heart, she has been through a lot. I felt like sharing this news with members whom I consider my friends. Ben

The angels condition is serious if not critical. She has been in and out of ICU. Yesterday they drew some fluid off her lungs, inserted a tube through her nose and was put on a breathing machine. They removed most of her colon leaving only about four inches. This morning our son says she is much better than yesterday and like in the past our hopes goes up and then gets slapped back down. Thanks for your concern and prayers. This is so very tough on me. I tear up thinking or discussing it. So if you don't hear much it is self protection on my part. Ben

Ben, I believe many younger people have difficulty understanding just how deep love can be after many decades of growing together. And that's what we do "grow together", "become one flesh" in the truest sense of the phrase. Mary and I have in our 42 1/2 years of marriage and I have been able to tell that your additional years have grown you two even that much closer. You remain in our prayers. My 36 year old daughter, who is visiting from LR, is reading "Jake" this week-end. Steve

The angel pass away last night. She was ready and faced it all unafraid. I am ok. But will not be talking about it due to the hurt. Ben

[2 Cor 5:6] "We are confident, yes, well pleased rather to be absent from the body and to be present with the Lord".....Confident and pleased to be in the presence of the Lord...That's a wonderful promise to hold on to. I have been reading the posts on this thread and it is obvious that God's children share the love of Christ with each other. Now Angel is immersed in a divine love and will never know pain again. Ben....my prayers are for you and your family. You are a good man.

Ben, I am very sorry for your loss. There are no words that will due justice for your pain right now. I pray that the Lord would give you, and your family, an extra dose of his mercy and comfort.
