of work to do!!!! Finished intalling the tang sight and installed a fiber optic front sight on the Renegade. Took it back to the farm this morning to re-sight it in and get it ready... The 25 yard sight in target pretty much went as expected... I just hate trying to sight something with a sight that does not have 'clicks'. Every time you make an adjustment you are just guessing and I did a bunch of that. I finally ended up with a nice 3 shot group about 1/2" above the point of aim. It was raining and I was not in good mood after trying to figure out the tang sight movements. So when I got the group at 25 - i posted a new target and took it to 100. I really need some work at a 100... This looks terrible..

All shots inside 6" at 100 with open sights with prb in a ml. That is pretty good! You might get it a bit tighter with work but you got a good place to start. Only thing is "powder", what kind you using. I use the real thing in my smokey guns, Swiss for the fine work and KIK or Blackdiamond for the muskets and plinkin. Keep us updated with progress. 10 ga

I do not know why I forgot to put the powder load on the target, I normally do it was 70 grains by volume of loose T7-2f.
I have a lot of GOEX 3f but really do prefer the T7 for this target shooting...
I really do not shoot a lot of PRB's - just practice for these Rondy shoots. So when I look at that target I see a shotgun pattern... yuk!

thats really not too bad! you might be able to bring it in a bit by messing with powder charge and practice. if you havent shot open sights much the practice will help you. may just take some refreshing.

Dittos " for whyohe. It really isn't so bad for new equipment etc...! Developing a load and getting acustomed to the trigger, how the gun "feels" and tracks to target, how the recoil feels with each shot, does it like the .495 or .490 PRB better, 777 or Holy Black, or 60 grains or 75 or or 85, pillow ticking-muslin-linnen patch, dry patch or lubed and what kind o lube??? Really getting a PRB gun that is a bit finnicky to shoot can be like a fickle MLII. That is what makes it fun. Of my hammer guns only one rifle is real particular, but if you deviate from her expected diet she will give you a spread like an improved cylinder shotgun. I have 2 guns, a White slamfire and a new barrel on one of my MLIIs, to get to know this spring and am looking forward to the time on the range. Enjoy the Renagade. Best, 10

And looking over your target... You kept all shots on the 9 ring or better except the one at 12 oclock. That is darn good for new gun shooting and open sights. By the way, with the half orange target, do you use what is called a "navy" hold or 6 oclock hold on the target? 10

10gai was using a 6:00 hold on the target......
I just thought I could shoot better than the target indicates... I know I can when using a conical or sabot...

I could shoot really good once upon a time too! I can still shoot good, just can't see worth %^&*# any more. I had to convert all my sidehammer guns to "firesights" and peep with "firesights" on the front if I hunt with them. The guns shoot good as ever, just at 61 can't see the sights w/o glasses and can't see the target with glasses. The eye doctor is a shooter too and he said "use a scope"! I miss my open sights! 10

sabot loader, dont feel bad. i had wone a T/C PA hunter with a 1:66 RB twist. it took me a year or two to get it to shoot good. i started with the standard .490 RB and .010. wasnt even on target and varried powder from 60 to 110 grns of BP. then tried upping the patch to .015 and then .020 and finally started to come in. 4" at 80 yards. then some one recomended a .495 RB and .015 patch cause she heard soome of these had loose bores. so i did and it came in some more. then i tried .020 patch and i got excellent results when i was doing my part. here is the target with 2 shots. then i went to a deer target and as you see i opened up. hard to get that single same focal point of aim at 80 yards on a deer target. that why i like to use them. the 2 in the heart were my last 2 shots when i found my aim point.
