Can anyone tell me what model knight I picked up? It is stamped Knight 45 cal DISC blackpowder only made in USA pat. no. 6189253. Black synthetic stock blued fluted barrel fully adjustable fiber optic sights. Does anyone have any info on this. Feels awesome in hand and I hope it shoots as good. Any loads you can recommend? THANKS AND GOOD HUNTIN!!

my guess would be one of the original knight disc rifles that uses the orange primer holder. It may be retro fitted for the red holder but the elite did not have any open sights installed.

It does use the orange disc. With the sights and fluted barrel I cant seem to figure witch model it is. Does the origional disc have this on them? Do you know the barrel twist? Thanks

Probably a 1/30 twist although there were some 1/20 twist but those were the really low serial numbers. There were many different models that were available from the factory. You can contact Knight Rifles and they can clear it up by the serial number.

Need a serial # instead of the patent #. Both twists can shoot well but the fast twist version might really show a preference for heavier/longer bullets.
In an Elite 45 1-30 i really like 90gr and a 180gr bullet with a MMP tan sabot for range and fun. 100gr and a 200gr XTP is pretty good too. Ether are probably fine for hunting too within its range. My preferred hunting loads are a Lehigh 185gr and 110gr or more or the 200gr SST with 110gr.
If its an older 1-20 the 200gr Lehigh should shoot extremely well also. My 1-30 is a bit finicky with it but SabotLoader shoots them no problem. The Hawks 40 225gr HP is a nasty bugger too.
Either BH209 or T7, both will be pretty close until you get a bit hotter.

So it sounds like I have a origional disc with a 1 in 30 twist. Did they come with a fluted barrel and fiber optic sights like this one? Sorry about all the ?s I just like to know all I can about my guns. How does the fireing pin bolt assembly come apart for cleaning? THANKS!!

Fluted and Blued isnt very common from what ive seen. SS/Fluted seems far more common but ive been wrong ONCE before. SabotLoader has better pics about the bolt cleaning. Its fairly simple once you do it.

presdmeTo take the bolt apart you turn the secondary safety in to pull the hammer spring back so that you can turn the assembly out of the bolt. You probabably have the older bolt that requires a 'C' to be inserted under the the secondary safety. If you do not have the 'C' tool a 7/16" open end wrench will work you just have to place it in the right spot.... Here is a picture that might help.

THANKS SABOTLOADER!! Your instructions worked excellent and I even got it on the first try!! It was a little dirty and over oily in there but its all clean now. Thanks again. Any thoughts on the fluted blued barrel? I am going to try and shoot some tomorrow if things work out. I will try 2 777 pellets and 200 gr. hornidy sst at 50 yards. Thanks again for the help. GOOD HUNTIN!!

GOOD HUNTIN!! Shoot away... you will like it... that bullet will surprise you how accurate it can be - if you get it in the right sabot.... Fluted Barrel - no thoughts here at all - it just seems like a late run gun in Original DISC series and in the 45 cal...
