Does anyone have any expierence with converting a Ruger 10/22 to 17HM2? I know you need a heavier bolt handle, spring, and a 17 cal barrel goes without saying is there anything I'm missing? There seems to be alot of confusion on the net doing a search about safety and a few manufacturers have discontinued barrels and conversion kits.

I have no personal experience. I would start my search by calling Brownells and talk to one of the techs there.

Savage Shooter, that is a great site with lots of 10/22 info, but I didn't see any conversion info to 17HM2. Did I miss something?

Thanks for the Rimfire Central link . With info from there and some other research I decided on a Aluma-lite barrel & Power Custom bolt handle for the 17HM2 ( nessasary because of the increased power of the round over 22lr). Got it together this past weekend and the first groups are less 1/2 " at 50 yards with some coming in at .25" with Hornady ammo. Have some Eley Ammo on the way . Most guys like it better and say it is much cleaner. Funtion is perfect and i can wait to see how it works on squirrels. Trajectory is very flat so if you can hold on the head you should get'em out to about 100 yards.
