My brother-in-law is looking for a long barreled Kentucky or Pennsylvania rifle for under $1000. He only plans to shoot the patch and ball with it so I guess there is no need for a rifled barrel. Not sure about that though.
Does anyone have any suggestions on where to purchase a new or built flintock with a 40"+ barrel. I have talked him out of the Traditions model because of the spanish made barrels. Anyone have any suggestions?

I would go woth a rifled barrel. 1:66 is standard patch and roundball twist.

I happen to like the Pennsylvania but I think he is leaning towards the Blue Ridge from Cabelas. He would like something called a "match box" added to it and I don't think that Cabelas is capable of any type of fabrication to the rifles.

I have been corrected. That is "Patch Box" not match box.
