On our way to get something to eat at a local cafe, we saw some wildlife. It's nice to see elk getting re-established in the Ozarks. The tukeys, well they've been here for a few years already.

Yes, for the past several years there has been drawings for tags. Most who get permits have had success. They are getting thick along the National Buffalo river but are speading out and causing damage to pastures. My son seen about thirty in this same hayfield early this morning. This field is about five miles away from the park area where the elk are desirable. They keep increasing the legal kills but the herd is increasing fast.

I may have to check this out further..

tar12, I don't know the details. You can contact the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission by email and get the answer. If I can get it I will PM you. There are some extra large bulls like 7x7 and I think they issue a few cow tags. I have never had a desire to shoot one but have tried the meat. I like it much better than deer.

Ozark........That is nice to see these animal being re-introduced to areas where they were once native. They have also done that in western NC up in the Smokey Mountain range about two hours from my house. As of this time, however, there is no season. Richard

Yes, it is nice to see the reintroduction of this majestic game animal.Kentucky recently reintroduced them. From all accounts they have been very successful in doing so.Maybe here in the near future, the common working man can afford a elk hunt without refinancing the cabin...
