This doe is by far the largest doe I have taken to date.I could not find the orginal photothat showed her hanging on the scale down at the pro shop that had the date and weight on it,but I do remember that she was 200 plus field dressed. I have taken several big does in this creek bottom since this big old gal. They must of been her off spring as they were all well above average,by that I mean in the 160-180 field dressed range.I might add that I weigh 280,this gives you a idea of how big this doe was. There is something in those Indiana soybeans and corn.. ;D

Tar12
Talk about a trophy lady killer. ;D Heck that lady would put a lot of my past bucks to shame. She was a nice prize to say the least.

Ed This picture does not really show how big she truly was.The spread in between her nostrils was just shy of 3 inches. This deer was taken long before "Q" was a itch and I had 4 wheeler. This was one of the longest drags of my life. ;D I had to drag her to the truck then I could not get her into the truck by myself so I had to drag her to a spot where I could back the truck up to a bank and load her.yeah, she is still very vivid in my memory bank! ;D

Tar, that is one big doe. ...the largest I have seen was the one I harvested 2 years ago she went 165 lbs and no fawns with her....I think that had something to do with her weight, she was able to put on the weight without the stress of yearling's nursing....

Now that you mention that I remember that this doe had not been nursing either.

She could have been sterile putting on weight for the carrying and then nursing of young only to never have young....yours is the biggest I have seen....now deadeye spotted one without 2 days ago says will go over 150 she was in a small heard of 6 does together so it's hard to say if any are hers or not....did you happen to look at the teeth to get an idea of how old she was?

They were wore but she was not having trouble yet.I estimated her to between 5-6 yreas old.

Tar,
That is one IMPRESSIVE doe. Built like a nose tackle!! The biggest does I have shot in So. Illinois were 125 & 127#'s. They were big girls, with girth and shoulders and about a half inch of fat or better on breast bone and around tenderloins. Well fed too as we have plenty of food sources for them. Very Nice though!!
Mark ;D

This doe was taken before the Savage hit the market.I had a Hawken that I had plum shot the barrel out on it!I packed that .54 for a longtime!Anyway,I was lamenting the fact that I was going to miss out on that years deer season to a buddy of mine. You can borrow one of mine he says.My eyes lit up and he said you come on over tonight and pick it up.I scooted right over there after work.He produced some powder vials filled with 90 grns of ff,primers and some conicals.300 grainers if I remember correctly for a .50 cal. I will have to say I was a little disappointed when he pulled that muzzeloader out of the gun cabinet.I started looking it over and the sights were some of the crudest, rudimentary sights I had ever seen on a muzzy.I must of been staring in disbelief as he soon spoke up and said it will shoot buddy, and accurately to 80 yds.All you have to do is use 3/4 of that front blade and you are good to go.I had my doubts..I thanked him and headed to the farm where I worked.I pulled that gun out and realized I did not even see what make it was.My heart sank even further as I realized I was holding a CVA in my hands...I wanted to make the best of the situation and I loaded her up and touched one off at the target 75 yds distant. It hit within a 1 in of where I was aiming.I put another one down range to verify it would shoot. It did.I shot this doe that very evening..at approx 75 yds.It took out the lower 1/3 of her heart, she went approx. 30 yds and layed down. This was 300 yds from the truck of course!

That's one monster doe. We have few mature bucks that would dress out at that weight. The largest doe I have personally killed in this area was 130-135 live weight. That old gal was probably a pretty wise one to get that age and size. It wouldn't take many does that size to fill the larder.
To give you an idea of your deer's relative size....I shot a 125 lb. live weight doe on opening of archery this year and the comment was made by several club members that now nobody would want to do a biggest doe pool this year.

congrats, that was a trophy doe.....more than likely the smartest deer in the woods.....thats why i like shooting them, they can be a challenge .
the biggest i have got was 165#s field dressed with the bow & several 150# over the years.....but 200#s is incredible!
nitro1947......i noticed that to, but look at the size of the tree for comparison too.....she is a monster.

MY biggest is 147 fd and that is big in my area.(northwest Illinois). That deer of yours would trump any doe in our county by 50 pounds. Truly a huge deer. I love seeing pictures like this. Thanks

:)I've never seen a doe even close to that. Yesterday, during the last 5 minutes of shooting light I killed a "huge" doe with my x-bow. It weighed 120#. Now it doesn't seem so big.
