First year with my 45 I wanted to take a buck at least 200 yds out but it didn't work out.First day seen spikes and young does none big enough to shoot. The second day the morning went by with the same only spikes and very small does. But did score on a mature doe that evening at 110 yds. Used the 200 sst with 63 grs of H4198,if she had taken one more step she would have been gone done a ravine and I would have missed a chance at a deer the muzzleloader season this year because I haven't seen a deer since.Wed,thur, and friday morning it was flooded and couldn't even get to my stand. Anyway she was quartering away so bullet went in behind left front shoulder and came out in front of right shoulder, the hole out looked a tad smaller than the hole going in. Now I have the 45 broken in hopefully next year will be better.

Congratulations Herman! I was wondering whether you did any good. I knew the rain was not going to be good for hunting. Do you know if Larry did any good? Also, will you be back at camp this week? If not, I will see you at the range on Tuesday. (no ML yet, just the LR pistol) ;D Richard

Herman Congrats on connecting with a doe. It seems to be a tough year for deer hunting all around. I was just happy to shoot one this year going into the home stretch. The 45 has made it's starting mark for you so it's only going to get bigger & better. Ed

Going back monday night through Sat.Wanting to check out some berger bullets on deer if I can get them to cooperate. Last week we didn't get to hunt that much it flooded the river and creeks and couldn't get to our stands a couple days.Think it is susposed to be dryer this coming week.Hope it turns cold also. This is a pic of our road going to our stands the bridge is under about 4 ft of water. The water was low enough for us to cross saturday but didn't see a deer all day.

I too had problems due to flooding. Well, not really flooding, but lots of water and the 4wd broken on my ATV so have no transportation through the mud and muck. Haven't been to my main stand for a month, but got the parts to fix the 4 wheeler Friday so should be back there next week. Maybe that big buck will show up for you next week as well.
