Just wondering if anyone had tried running duplex out of their .22-250. I was trying to come up with some different powders to try. the overall goal is speed, my loads will be adjusted from there to achieve my accuracy. I'm hoping to get 4100-4200 out of a 50 grain V-max. any thoughts/comments would be great thanks.

It might be easier just to re-do into a 22 WSSM. Or one of the 308 case based 22 caliber rounds

Sounds dangerous. How do you keep the primer powder in place on the bottom of the cartridge unless it is a compressed load? Try a 22-284 same base size or as rogerdailey suggested 308 case.

Just run an Ackley improved reamer in and you will increase case capacity and should be able to achieve your speed goal. The Ackley 40* shoulder along with decreasing the cartridge taper will provide the capacity. I shoot a lot of Ackley improved cartridges. You simply fire a standard .22/250 case in the Ackley chamber and "presto" you now have a fireformed larger capacity case. Richard

I would take Richards advice. I would also give SW a PM when you get a chance. If i am not mistaken he is shooting a new .22-250 AI custom built rifle and could probably give you some valuable tips concerning that round. I spoke with Steve this morning and mentioned your interest in the .22-250 AI and he would be happy to discuss this with you. I will PM you with his phone number so you can touch base with him!

A 40gr V-Max will get your speed. Or a 36gr Varmint Grenade will get you past that.........neither with a very good BC, though. Duplex should be left to tight fitting loads which cannot mix, like smashed down to no powder shifting in the 10MLII. ;D

I shoot a 40 grain V-max over H380. I'm getting just over 4000 FPS. I'm not sure how much faster you want to go. I know the gophers and coyotes don't like it .
