Looking east from my hunting shack there was a dip in the land that wildlife was hidden from view as they walked through or across it. This was at the 100 yard distance and sometimes deer would simply cross my shooting lane keeping themselves hidden by the low place. This area is almost a quarter mile from the river or a branch where water is available. Sollution. I had a dozer create a pond band (Levy) across the low place and move dirt brush and rocks away so that water would back up behind the pond bank. I then had him cut two drainage ditches to funnel water into the Pond. These drainage ditches are pretty wide and will provide the deer a passageway through the thicket area. Hopefully the next good rain will put plenty of water into the pond. At the far end of the shooting lane 190 yards from my shooting window I kept seeing deer, bear and turkey simply walk across and back into a thicket. I had the dozer create a barrier of tree tops, rocks and logs to encourage them to turn and come toward the pond and me. Since my disabilities prevents me from going to them I have made an effort to have them come to me. I am not so interested in shooting the wildlife as I am in seeing them, taking pictures and enjoying them. But all this doesn't mean I wont bust a cap if we want to fool with the meat and it is in season. The pond bank which also serves as a road for my vehicles is also a good spot for crows and other undesirables to visit. Cheating Ozark here.

NICE! but i don't think you'll need to "guide/encourage" them too much to you having a water source. it would even be better if you could do a food plot around there. MR. Buck thinks "hmmmmm food, water, thick brush for cover and shelter. MY CASTLE!!! " UNTIL THE FIRST SHOT ;D

If you can't go to the mountain, bring the mountain to you. It looks as if your plan will work.

Whyohe, Up in Illinois and Indiana and a few other states they have some nice food plots they call corn fields. Some of what they raise is trucked down here and put into sacks. I move these sacked foodplots to a large stock feeder that holds four hundred pounds of their stuff and it makes a very attractive food plot. It is small but works fine. Ozark

Gotta do that raf. I am taking some corn up to the feeder this afternoon. May just snap a few pictures and re-learn how to post them. Good idea. I need to get back involved. Thanks
