Could you PLEASE..... find a better way for us to post photo's. I go to an Archery site that just let's me browse to my file's and pic and post a picture very easily.. The way we have to do it here greatly limits the amount of photo's we post. I don't post often enough here because of the difficulty level.. Ease of pic posting would really help all of us to get better information out there to our member's. Thank You Very Much Drop

I concur. I am not very puter literate and have to learn anew each time how to get pictures on the forum using photobucket. While at the same time I can send them by email with ease. I don't know if there is an easier way available on forums. Ozark

I am certainly glad I am not alone. I have decided to merely observe others photo's and no longer participate.

The problem here is an issue of paid-for server space. This board is a 'free' board. To be free, several things have to occur. One, they get their income from advertising. If you want to have an ad-free board, you can, but only for a fee to offset their loss of revenue. The other aspect is that they will only give up the space it takes to house and store 'text', which computer-wise is not much. To be able to post pictures directly, you'd have to store them on the server of the site itself, and color pictures eat space up mightily. This ProBoard decided against doing that.
So now your method of posting a picture is the same, but the picture has to reside on some existing Web Space somewhere, and all you do here is reference it. But that space has to be on the Web, where the software of this site can find it. It couldn't find it if it existed solely on your PC, not without establishing a connection with your PC (other than one where you are just typing in their 'box')......
'Least that's how I understand it.
There used to be dozens of places that would let you store photos free....Photoplace, Nikon, dozens. There are not many now, but some do exist.

I don't understand... I have mine here on my pc..I post on another site..in the post I have a place where it says "attachments" I click on that then it goes to browse..in my own picture file..I click on the image..it says to "upload" I do and WALLA we have a photo attached... I still say this would be SOOOO helpful to all the member's. And that site is a free site also..Not being argumentative here...Just hoping to make things better.Drop

Read the post above yours. That explains why it doesn't work here. Sure what you're suggesting would be easy but costly.

Cost is the issue. By clicking on the link at the bottom which says "click here to make this board ad-free", you can read the options available.
If this option is something that the members choose to supprt - we can enable this function.
We ran a poll a while back and the consensus was to keep things the way they are (ie using a third party photo hosting site) in order to keep it free. Perhaps we should do another poll and see what people think now? If every one chipped in 5 bucks I'm sure we would have a years worth of credits (at least a years worth).
Any opinions? Pay ~ 5 bucks a year and have file attachment capabilities, or keep things the way they are?

see there ya go ..as soon as you change the board you start putting a price on options.... LOL dont get your undies in a bundle.. Just kidding. However I would gladly support that idea. But I am only one voice among many. I look at as not just paying for the file capability.. but that price for a wealth of knowledge. But oh well I hope photobuckett gets figured back out. Thanks all anyway Drop

If you can post directly to your archery site, then they are the same as Photobucket!
If you have a picture on that site, then link it here and it will show up.

For long time users familiar with the wealth of information and help offered would gladly pay a reasonable fee. New viewers of the forum would probably see the board as a for profit board and back away. I had problems learning to post pictures using photobucket but with some help from members here learned to post them before my 81st birthday next month.

I'm not all that puter literate and I posted fine my first try. You might find mamaflinters additional step by step instructions used in concert with the directions posted by I think Edge and you should be OK.
I admit photobucket's system is sorta vague and is geared more toward those of higher puter skills than it seems people like myself poses, but I cussed my way through it.
Arthur.

Posting photos on this forum has caused a lot of problems for members including me. It is never the same and a headache each time I try to post a picture. 90 percent of the time I fail. Can someone come up with a simple solution that stays the same? Like sending pictures by email is simple. I can't keep up with how to send them here. Is it possible to change from complex to simple?

I think posting the pictures is still the same. What's seems to have changed is photo bucket. Every time I go there it looks different and the process of downloading and resizing pictures is different.

Okay it's tough with photobucket but not impossible. I just tried it, and I clicked on this photo twice and it popped up large. To the right of the photo, it gave me the (Img) address. I rolled my mouse over it and it turned blue--right click and copy. If the IMG code doesnt appear you will have to point at the photo and a box will appear below it, click on link options. scroll down until you find the one with the IMG code and then mark it, so when you did what I did above the link option will be there. I call this antler soup! Have a great day! Dave

Yes, it is simple to post pictures that have been uploaded. The problem is getting the browse areas to show up so that you can select pictures to upload. Even I can send uploaded pictures but tell me how to get "Browse" to show up so that i can upload pictures in preparation of posting them? Thank you to whomever can put me back on the right track. I have vista

You mean when you go to upload? Mine are all listed under pictures and dated. When I hit browse on photobucket, it takes me to list, I find the list and the photo, double click it and it uploads. Hope this helps, Have a great day! Dave

Ozark: Log into photobucket at the top of the home page. When your ablum appears click on upload. This should bring up a window, allowing you to choose the ones from the computer you want to upload. Mine our found under my documents, with a title for my photos on the left hand side of the screen. If you find it, double click on the photo and it will upload. Promise! Let me know how you make out! Have a great day! Dave
