i cant remember the manufacturer or what it was called exactly but you mixit with your powder and it helps to keep moisure from keeping the powder from not going off due to dampness.
i went out PAs flintlock season and went to unload, looked at powder, it looked fine but no boom. kept flash pan covered so no snow got in but i didnt chnge powder every hour like i normally do.as soOn as i changed powder BOOM! does that stuff work? and if i use it how often do you think i should change flash pan powder on a snowy day being covered.

The name of the product is Rain -Coat. You mix one part of Rain-Coat to six parts of priming powder. You also put a light coat of Rain-Coat on the face of the frizzen. Rain-Coat was available from Mountain State Muzzleloading Supplies Inc. in Williamstown WV 26167.

what else do you guys do to keep your powder dry in your flash pan on you flinters. i also have a piece of leather sprayed with silicon that fits over my side lock and over sides of gun to help keep water out. i thought of using the thick case lube in the edges of the flash pan to help keep water out. wha tyou think about that?

My opinion, Your over engineering! No offence meant but all you need is a bit of melted bee's wax on a toothpick. run a bead around the pan and close er up. no oils,no new fangled stuff. STILL need to check your prime now and then though as nothing is perfect
