Nice pictures and a good bear. I noticed how round shaped the rib bones were in bear the first one I cressed out. Actually the rib bones appeared small to me. Did you notice that I guess a bullet would glance off a round bone more easily than a flat type. Did you try eating the meat?

We really like most bear. I would rather have a bear than a deer. In my lifetime we have had two rank bears. Both were larger boar bears and they were not fit to eat. They were taken care properly after the kill. Bears in the fall need to be skinned, kernals removed and chilled in a hurry. Most folks I know take a piece of bear and cook it before they invest any time or money in the processing of the meat. While this bear was being skinned there was a chunk of tender loin on the grill. This was a good eating bear.
I am not a hog hunter. Hog hunters have told me that a boar hog may be rank and unfit to eat.
Normal mode of operation is to head shoot the bear. This bear was taken behind hounds. A bear over bait gets shot high in the front shoulder.

Two or three more years and I should have enough points for another kill tag. Great bunch of guys. I took the bear on the last day that I could hunt with a friend from Florida. It was Saturday and he obeys the Sabboth on Sunday, Monday I had to be back to work.
I remember hunting for 12 or 13 days and turning down bear on a daily basis. I left most of the meat as a main course for a local bear hunters party. They throw a bash for all the landowners and 'bout anybody else around.
