Was hoping to learn a little more about sabots so I cut one in half. Anyway, not to bore anyone with my thoughts from observations here is a picture to exam for yourself and form your own thoughts.

Nice knurling, upon ignition that gap may compress and be gone? Unsure The gap from the concavity should disappear as the pressure builds. One of my curiosity was how much the flat base of the bullet sat over the web. If the base radius is too great and the flat base of the bullet doesn't rest over the web then there could be possible drilling. IMO the web adds a lot of support to secure the bullet from downward movement.

"IMO the web adds a lot of support to secure the bullet from downward movement."
As does knurling a bullet in which the knurls sort of dig in to the inside of the petals.
