Expectations?

Once you answer that question then the next is “What are you doing to help fulfill those expectations?”
I find this especially true with SML performance. For me I found by basically breaking it into 2 categories that helped me. Barring that all is well with ML and scope the focus should start with the load.
In my case I use sabots so my advice will lean in this direction. My preference is a load that has around 20lb or better for load resistance. Without measuring I can describe it as, one hand doable - 2 handed easier with an aid for the ramrod. Once the bullet/sabot is on the powder I add additional compression to try to produce a tighter bundle for a more consistent burn. Next what is needed is to find the sweet spot for that load.
Then there’s ones shooting skills. Not all shooters have the same shooting skills. I will be the first to admit there’s room for improvement with my shooting skills. Now what has helped me a lot is trigger adjustment. First the play has been really reduced (not totally) and trigger is set at 3-1/2lbs. When you spend time with this setup you get to know when the shot is going to go off. With age my steadiness has degraded some so when the cross hairs hit the mark a quickened squeeze is used. Works for me.
When you hit the field ready for the hunt and a good shot presents itself you might find your confidence may insert itself with the thought “I got this”.
For those that have paid their dues to get the best from their SML I’m not going to wish you “good luck”, instead I wish you “good hunting”.
