I have been given an older but excelent SML. Barrell looks new unfired. It has the breachplug tool, ram rod and a bunch of other stuff What it DOES NOT HAVE IS A BREACH PLUG. (I know I am shouting). I have had litle interest in the past of threads about BPs. I do
remembmer one that uses a removal tool unlike the one from the factory. I need: any thing I should know before ordering one. I need to know where to buy one. Web address, phone number please. How do you lose a BP??? I have the SML for one reason. I don't have to clean it. With reduced loads (non hunting) I can take the graandsons to the range and not come home bruiseed and hurt. Sabots from Arkansas, 4759 powder (8# can)
Hornady pistol bullets, tarets 100 yards and under. I have stuff and a plan. What I do not have is a BP. Help Eleyxring Olahoma

The breech plug will not be that much of a problem . First establish that you have a Savage ML10 or the Savage MLII .... world of difference . Sabot and bullet choices will come in the future as you begin developing loads and knowledge about your new rifle . The 8 lbs. of 4759 is GOLDEN ! And yes , I meant too shout ! It is a great powder for the Savage MLs but was discontinued several years ago . Chris

Luke at Arrowhead can fix you up with a new plug. I got one for my Savage from him. I recommend the carbide bushing instead of the vent liner.

I found a breech plug (SML II) at Arrowhead. I have at least a dozen vent liners so opted for a plug that uses them. Many thanks for the referral to AH. Ordered it after hours on Sunday, It was here late Wednesday with vent liner ready to go. I give these people a High 5. I am looking at a 25 gr load of 4759 amd 200 gr. Hornady XTP. Deer are safe but paper targets are in danger. The powder charge and bullet are subject to change. In Oklahoma we have 3 deer seasons, Archery, crossbows are legal for everyone. Muzzle loaders, no powder restrictions and regular gun season.
Does anyone know how to clean a paper target and does it make good stew? eleyxring

Does anyone know how to clean a paper target and does it make good stew? eleyxring No problem. First you dip the target in boiling water like you would a chicken before plucking. Then peel the outer layer to remove the ink portion. No evisceration required. Even though it has a lot of fiber the woody taste is over powering for making a good stew.

Just throw it in an Instant Pot for 45 minutes, and it will come out like broth. Taste may be subjective.
