Has anyone here used these bullets in their muzzle loader? I usually shoot Hornady 250gr XTPs but bought these in a lot of Barnes bullets on the for sale page. Just wondering if they work well on deer sized game.

Are you shooting a 45 or a 50cal with sabots? What rifle?

I have a CVA Optima V2 50cal ML. I'm using Harvester black crush rib sabots and Blackhorn 209 powder.

You should get a little better penetration from them over the xtp, if they will group well for you, use them.

Dennis, Thanks for the reply. I'm going to do as you suggested and see how they group compared to the Hornady 250gr. XTP bullets.

Probably a good idea to switch to the Harvester smooth short sabots with the XPB. Its not as large as the XTP.

GMB54-120, Thanks for the tip about the sabots. Barnes bullets are smaller in dia. than the XTPs that I normally shoot. nivlac1960
