Fairly new to the sight, but have been a lurker for some time. I think this might be my first post...
I picked up a T/C Encore Super 209x45 ML barrel. It appears to be a 1:28" twist barrel.
I'm wanting to shoot sabotless. What do I need to get started shooting sabotless?
I'm considering having the QL Accurizer cut off, and also shortening the barrel to a "long" handgun length (I typically hunt deer with handguns using barrel lengths as long as 17.5" 7mm RSUAM in XP-100's or Encore handguns - my 30-338WM Encore handgun bbl is 16.5").
Is the 1:28" twist fast enough to do typical 45 cal bullets such as the 250 gr Shockwave/SST, or other similar weight bullets from Pittman, and others?
Full form sizing is also something I might want to try. Is the Swinglock die the only choice here? I assume I'd need a portion of my cutoff bbl to do this?
Thanks.

You would need a chunk of barrel to make a full form die. My 40cal full form die made by someone else can also be used as a smooth form die.

1-28 can stabilize a 250gr but the SST can be a bear. Jacket is sorta thick and the lead is sorta hard. One of the shooters at Friendship was shooting a 1-30 with 275gr Parker BEs a couple years ago and did pretty well with it. I would suggest the BE and maybe the Fury Star Tip to keep the OAL down. The Nosler Sporting Handgun 45cal 250gr is also easy to get to shoot sabotless but its a bit more fragile.

Parker 275 BE .462x.060 veggie wad Blackhorn 209 powder 84gr by weight Federal 209a primer Keep flame channel in plug drilled out. Shim primer pocket to get. 002 to .004 primer crush. 1 damp hoppes patch and 2 dry patches between each shot.
May need to knurl bullet to get 2 hand loading pressure.
This will shoot well
