I have a Henry 45-70. It has a curved brass recoil buttplate. Any aftermarket rubber recoil pads that might fit? Most are flat based and I do not want to cut the stock straight. I would rather not use a slip on pad if possible.

Brownell's lists curved butt pads. I don't know if they would fit.

Thanks for the info, I will check. Most curved pads are like the Morgan shotgun pad, the plastic spacer is flat and the rubber is curved which would not help me but I will look. Also the trigger is 5 pounds or more, my trigger scale does not go that high. Any aftermarket triggers or adjustments readily available?

Have you looked at the slip on ones? I seen a good one at Wally world yesterday for like 20 bucks, sorry didn't take a pic or remember the name.

Going with a soft pad without cutting the stock will make the length of pull way too long unless your knuckles drag the ground. You may look at the Past Field Recoil Pad Shield. Not sure if this is the best price, I just searched and it came up first.

I got a take off Henry stock. I will cut that and add a rubber recoil pad. I was surprised, I had assumed there might be some type of draw bolt to the receiver or tang but the stock is held by one bolt between the brass tangs. I could add a steel hollow insert between the tangs for the bolt if it would add any strength. There is not a lot of wood at the wrist. I could see how a fall with the rifle could possibly brake the stock wrist.
