Opening day of the Utah Muzzy hunt! My goal of the day kill a buck by noon. After hiking about a mile into a burn, I located a group of bucks I glassed the day before with a couple of small 4x4 and a 4x3 about 150 yards up a hill by a road. They were at 350 to 400 yards. I got setup prone and was about to shoot and several vehicle drove by and the noise caused the bucks to move out of sight quickly. After a few minutes I noticed that a group of does that stayed at 280 yards had a small buck in it. Being a 100 yard downhill drag to the truck and 830 AM, I decided he would do. Dialed to 5.5 Moa up and no wind to be felt so held dead on him. Let it rip and when I got my scope back on him, I saw him turn and blood high on the exit. I was about 100 ft lower than him and he was slightly quartered away. I thought I saw him run but further investigation he fell right after he turned in his tracks. Where he lied: Exit (entered about mid-ribs and blow right through the opposite shoulder): My only two mule deer and both fell to 344 bombs.

Now I can swap my scope and barrel to my center fire for my antelope hunt.

Nice shooting. I like the idea of short downhill drag. I hope you’re antelope hunt has as good of ending.
